MEZCAL

Earth, Smoke, and Spirit—Rooted in Tradition

Mezcal is Mexico’s most diverse and expressive spirit—an agave distillate shaped by region, tradition, and the hands that make it. While often associated with smoke, mezcal’s true identity lies in its complexity. It’s made from dozens of agave species and crafted using a range of production techniques, from industrial-scale distillation to ancient, ancestral methods. Whether earthy and rustic or refined and elegant, mezcal always carries the soul of the land and the culture that birthed it. To better understand what’s in the glass, mezcal is legally classified into three categories based on how it’s made: Mezcal (Modern Production), Artesanal Mezcal, and Ancestral Mezcal.
