REPOSADO

Oak-Aged Elegance With Agave Soul

Reposado Tequila bridges the gap between the vibrant freshness of blanco and the deep complexity of añejo. Aged in oak for at least two months but less than a year, reposado—meaning “rested”—develops subtle notes of vanilla, spice, and caramel while preserving the bright, herbal essence of blue Weber agave. It’s the most versatile tequila style, equally suited to sipping neat or starring in elevated cocktails.

Key Characteristics

Reposado Tequila offers a smooth, balanced profile with oak-derived roundness and soft spice layered over agave’s earthy, peppery core. The aging time enhances mouthfeel while adding warmth and complexity.

Origin & History

Reposado Tequila was introduced in the late 20th century to create a smoother style that maintained agave character while softening the edges through barrel aging. Produced in Mexico’s designated tequila regions—mainly Jalisco—reposado reflects a more modern approach to tequila craftsmanship. While blancos remain the most traditional, reposado has become a favorite for drinkers seeking complexity without overpowering wood influence.

How It’s Made

Reposado begins with harvested blue Weber agave hearts (piñas), which are roasted, crushed, and fermented. The resulting agave juice is double-distilled, then aged in oak barrels—usually American whiskey barrels, though some use French oak or wine-seasoned casks. The aging process must last between two and twelve months. This “resting” period rounds out the spirit while preserving the essential agave profile.
